ABOUT ME

Artist Statement

“An Artist wears his work in place of his wounds.” -Patti Smith

Returning to photography after a 30 year hiatus has been how I wear my wounds. Not only do I see the world thru the lens of my camera but I have found myself again. My Art has always been about finding beauty in the overlooked or the declining city scape. My photographs range from industrial abstract to environmental portraiture. Dayton has been my home for the majority of my life. I’ve watched and captured how its changed over the years, sometimes with sadness and sometimes with excitement. I love this city and will continue to photograph as long as I’m able.

Artistic Influences:

Eugene Atget, Paul Strand, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Rothko, Edward Hopper, Louise Nevelson-and not to be left out, all of my contemporaries Rachel Botting-especially, and all of the great Artist at Front Street.

EXHIBITS

Somebody That I Used to Know

This exhibit contains recent photographs of Dayton, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and my beloved Front Street. These photographs represent me finding myself again through art. These Photographs were captured on a digital camera as well as an iPhone. They were printed at a public library thanks to information shared with me by fellow artist Chip Williamson-to whom I owe much thanks.
